Riders' Weekend – 27 to 29 May

Been a while since you got out there and did your stuff? Well unpack your chaps and helmet in preparation for some real riding, coming up in just a few weeks. On the agenda are two rides on Saturday with plenty of exhilarating canters through the paddocks to warm up those muscles. After dinner, if we’re lucky enough to get a clear night, those keen for an after-dark adventure can saddle up and join us for a moonlight ride – an experience sure to be remembered. On Sunday we’ll head to the O’Connell pub for the popular day ride, stopping off to refuel with lunch and a few beers before heading back. And there's always time for relaxing in the spa, on the tennis court, and in front of a roaring log fire. Set for May 27-29, this weekend package includes all rides, accommodation and great country meals. Dinner on the Friday night is also offered for those arriving by 7.30 pm. Prices are $350 for adults and $250 for children. Limited spots available so book soon!

Other key dates

There’s always something happening at Yarrabin – whether it’s our hilarious theme weekends, kids’ camps, school getaways, bush dances or our latest Active Horsemanship workshops. And it won’t be long now till we launch our new website on Leadership and Horses – with some much-anticipated programs to be held in both Sydney and at Yarrabin. As always, the next school holidays (July 2-17) are filling up fast, so please book as early as you can to avoid disappointment. The horses

Our paddocks are now home to over 30 quality horses suited to all levels of riding skill. Some of our more recent additions include: - Razz: A gentle black gelding that once cruised through McDonalds drive-thru in Bathurst, only to find the McHay burger was off the menu. - Kay-C: A top-end mare who has a touch of brumby in her and is fast becoming Annie’s new favourite. - Jake: A four-year-old gelding who is proving to be a popular addition. - Drifter: An ex-pacer who takes great care of nervous beginners. And of course all your old favourites are still here. Rusty continues to deny his advancing age and is always up for a run, Chiko is still as dependable and as in demand as ever, and Snuggles still rules the yard as one of the original horses to be born at Yarrabin.

The rides

All of us at Yarrabin have put our heads together and explored our 2,500 acre property to come up with some great new rides just for you. Bush-bashing through the forest has yielded some great potential and in the warmer months riders can enjoy a swim in Ben Chifley Dam – on horseback of course! We are also working on a unique canyon ride through one of the property’s vast gullies. As always, you will be free to trot and canter subject to your ability, and we are on hand to offer tips to improve your riding.
