Ride, Relax and Re-invent at Yarrabin!

A big country welcome to all our new subscribers, especially all the kids who joined us for the Kids Camp in July – and welcome back to our regulars. Our newsletter is now being read by over 2000 people in over 10 countries!! So in more ways than one, we are WORLD FAMOUS!! You may have noticed we missed the July newsletter! We have been working hard on making Yarrabin an even better experience for you – a few more horsemanship workshops, some super theme weekends complete with moonlight rides, great deals for groups, and much more depth and innovation in our Leadership and Horses ™ workshops. We’ll cover most of these new initiatives in this newsletter. As always, please feel free to forward this as widely as you wish!!

Active Horsemanship Workshops (or “Kids Camps for Adults!”)

How does four days of indulgence at Yarrabin sound? But not only to relax in the spa with complimentary champagne, or enjoying the free relaxing massage, but also to elevate your riding skills to a level many only dream of! Our Active Horsemanship Workshops may be just the thing for you. We cover many aspects of horsemanship, including catching, tacking up and riding horses, and also some really cool ground work doing some “intuitive” horsemanship. Annie has studied in America under one of the foremost experts on horses and intuitive horsemanship, Ariana Strozzi, and now runs these workshops at Yarrabin. In a way they evolved out of our hugely successful Kids Camps when many parents asked “when can we have that much fun and learning?” But these workshops are more than just riding – you’ll have the adventure of a life time as well! Space is strictly limited to just eight participants. Two courses are scheduled for the remainder of this year – 24 to 27 October and 10 to 13 Nov. Email us for an information pack.

Kids Camps (click straight on this link to go to this topic)

A big thank you to the 20 wonderful kids who joined us at the end of June for our Winter Kids Camp. We had some great weather and some new fun activities – who will forget the dressing up on horse back in the round yard? Or the line dancing? Or the “Stockman’s Challenge” where riders had to negotiate a number of obstacles and complete some stockman’s activities like picking up whips and Drizabones, opening and closing gates, and walking your horse backwards through an obstacle. Plus all our usual Kids Camps activities like trail rides, gymkhana, day ride to a wonderful picnic site, and some fine tuning of riding skills bareback in our arena. We have scheduled the next camps for December and January. The dates are on the specials page of our web site. We know they will all fill so please book early to avoid disappointment - we only take 20 kids on each camp. They make GREAT Christmas and birthday presents!! Email us and we will send you more information.

Theme Weekends Coming Up…

Father’s Day is fast approaching and what better way than to indulge Dad with a weekend-to-remember at Yarrabin. Our Horses

Yarrabin is still home for over 30 wonderful horses, and they are all looking forward (like us!) to seeing abundant green grass in all the paddocks in spring! Rain has been falling steadily in the last few months (and even some snow as well!) and we are looking to a wonderful spring. Did you know that the two youngest horses are Yarrabin, Dan and Jake, have lived in drought conditions all their lives? They don’t know what it is like to have too much grass to graze on. We have had one new addition to the mob – “Harry” is bay standard bred who has been trained by Annie and her sister, Jo. He is a fun and gentle horse who is just about ready for guests to ride. Sadly, we have lost Midnight, who passed away peacefully earlier this year. She was one of the original Yarrabin horses – born and bred here. We did have a scare of colic with Snuggles, but a visit from the vet and some all-night walking saw her pull through. Some of the others are looking for retirement homes (Jack, Rusty and Sherry) so if you would like a house pony or know of a good home for one, please let us know. And of course, we are always on the lookout for other quality horses….

Leadership and Horses™ – O’Connell And Now Sydney

Our Leadership and Horses ™ program is gaining momentum and lots of interest from corporates and also individuals. Feedback from the programs we have run at Yarrabin has been overwhelmingly positive. Participants tell us that they have been more deeply moved with this program than other leadership programs they have done, and the uniqueness of having immediate feedback from an unbiased and perceptive “coach” (ie the horse) was very powerful. Have you seen “28 Days” with Sandra Bullock? It is a little like that – though we do more than simply empower you to pick up hooves!!! It is more about regaining control of your life. We run a Level 1 course for a day at Yarrabin, and also a Level 2 course for three days. These can be for individuals or teams. And recently we have secured an arena in Sydney with some wonderful horses – so we can come to you to run these Leadership and Horse programs. And we are in discussions with the founder of Leadership and Horses, Ariana Strozzi, for her to come to Australia next year to run a few programs with us. Please email or call and we can send you some more information, including a link to Ariana’s latest book – “Horse Sense for the Leader Within.”

Land for sale

Looking for your own piece of country paradise? With wonderful neighbours (that’s us!)? Close to one of the best horse riding places in Australia (that’s also us!)? Then maybe we have the land for you! We have cut off about 10 acres from the main Yarrabin property and are open to offers. Email or phone us and we will give you all the information. Be quick though, as this land will sell soon.

Our wonderful Yarrabin team – positions vacant

Doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun? Well we have so much fun at Yarrabin that time flies even faster for us!! Jo (Annie’s youngest sister) and Sandra have been with us for four months already! And next week they leave for eight months to travel to far flung places around the globe like Thailand, Africa and Ireland. We would like to publicly thank them for adding to our wonderful Yarrabin Team, and wish them the very best for their future adventures! Tash (or “Natasha”), a bubbly girl from the UK, has also been with us since July and has been a wonderful addition to our team. She will be with us til September. Tash is thinking of emigrating to Australia – and has her eyes on Monty (the horse). So if you come up to Yarrabin and find Monty missing, you know where to find him!! Of course, with Jo, Sandra and (soon) Tash leaving us, we are looking for some new additions to our team. The positions are cook/general hand, assistant wrangler, and general hand. Maybe a couple would work well? Please let us know if you are interested, or can suggest someone who may be interested.

PS - A Post Script

You’ve done well to get to this point of our latest newsletter – hope you have enjoyed it! Many thanks for all your feedback on our ezines. We understand that they were hard to forward to all your friends, or to read if you didn’t receive emails in html. There is now a link at the top of each ezine which takes you straight to our web site where you can read all the newsletters. Or you can simply send your friends the newsletter link and they can join the Yarrabin family! The link is www.yarrabin.com/subscribe.asp or click below. Just a reminder of the Active Horsemanship Workshops (only 8 places available on each course), our Kids Camps in December and January, the positions vacant of cook and assistant wrangler, and our Father’s Day weekend on 2 to 4 September. Love to see you and your friends up at Yarrabin (always a fantastic place for groups up to 30 in size) – where you can still horse ride at all gaits including cantering, where you can sit back and enjoy some sumptuous country meals, or where you can learn more about yourself and others in your team. “Ride, relax, re-invent!” Happy trails!!
